How Car Speedometer Works?

| Illustration Of Speedometer |
Speedometer is a flexible cable that is installed through the gear wheel at one end of the vehicle wheel and the other end to a pointer. Circumference of the wheel is known which many rounds per kilometer is also known. During the wheel is spinning, so the cable will also twirl, causing a rotating magnet on the side in a metal bowl which is connected to a speed pointer (dial). Magnets attract the automatic bowl (speed cup) also attract the dial to move circular. More faster the magnet spins, more further the cup and the pointer move around from its resting position. This can occur because of the presence of a magnetic field created by the rapid rotation of the magnet and cause metals that have magnetic properties will also rotate because of the magnetic field.

As addition, the speedometer doesn't measure velocity of a car, but it measures the average speed of a car in a very short time interval. In fact, the number shown on the speedometer is not pure speed in instant moment or t = 0.
